The issue is that the team might have to continue this goal star quarterback Brock Purdy. Purdy took a massive shot from a Lions defender and was immediately taken out of the game.
While on the sideline, Purdy began to move his hand and was in clear pain. The telecast indicated that the right wrist and wrist were the issue for the 49ers signal caller.

Purdy exited the game with about 1:30 left. Josh Dobbs immediately came in and began to move the ball while Purdy was on the sideline attempting to throw the ball with his injured hand.
Purdy looked to be in significant pain and took his helmet off moments after attempting to throw the ball. Should this injury keep him out of the final game of the season, it will be a disappointing situation to end a rather disappointing season for the 49ers.
The 49ers are a year removed from a Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. They had been pegged as the NFC team to beat and predicted to make the postseason and Super Bowl. However, they have already been eliminated from playoff contention.
San Francisco has been dealing with injuries all season long that have derailed their season. Star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was lost for the season after signing a big contract extension.
Deebo Samuel and George Kittle also missed games early on in the season as well. One of the biggest injuries the team faced was losing Christian McCaffrey. The dual-threat running back missed most of the 2024 season due to suffering tendinitis in both feet. He would return in Week 10, only to suffer a PCL injury shortly after.
The massive losses on both sides of the ball led to the 49ers having an underwhelming season. Now, it appears that Purdy might join his fellow stars and miss a game this season.
Purdy is due for a big contract extension, and his injury is unlikely to impact that extension. Though it is believed he will get a huge extension, he may not reset the market.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott reset the market at $60 million per season when he signed a record four-year, $240 million.
Purdy should fetch a high price himself, and the 49ers might also sit the quarterback should this nearly last-second injury impact him in any way before Week 18.
