The San Francisco 49ers may have had a disastrous season, but head coach Kyle Shanahan wants his team to end the year on a high note. In the season finale, the 49ers will face the Detroit Lions for the first time since the two teams met in the NFC Championship last season.

While San Francisco was heavily favored last season, the Lions have emerged as the class of the NFC this year. Shanahan voiced his opinion on Monday’s matchup.

“We all know the history from last year. So that’s going to be fun for both of us to go through that, but nothing would be better than upsetting them and ruining their chance at the one seed and having a game that we can be proud of,” he told NBC Sports.
