7 Detained In Ludhiana Clash, Stone-Pelting Between Migrants And Muslims Over DJ Music During Holi


 A clash over the playing of DJ music during Holi celebrations in Ludhiana’s Bihari Colony left two people injured on Friday evening, police said. Seven people have been detained in connection with the incident. According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) P S Virk, the altercation began as a verbal spat between migrants from other states and members of the Muslim community over DJ music.

As the conflict escalated and the two sides hurled bricks, stones, and other objects at each other, news agency PTI reported. Two persons were injured in the clash, PTI cited sources as informing. 

“Today is the festival of Holi, and there is a mosque on one side and migrants (from other states) live on the other side. They (people from other states) were playing DJ, leading to a verbal spat between migrants and people from the Muslim community. They also threw stones at each other,” Virk said, as per news agency ANI.

Police reached the spot and the situation is under control. An FIR has been registered, and some people have been arrested… we will also check the CCTV,” Virk said.

2 Injured As Dispute Over DJ Music In UP’s Budhau Leads To Gunfiring

In a similar incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district, a dispute over DJ music in Budhau village under Gadwar police station limits escalated into a violent clash, leading to gunfire, news agency IANS reported. Two people were injured, with one critically wounded and referred to Varanasi for advanced treatment, while the other is undergoing treatment at the district hospital.  

Investigations are underway in both cases, police said.
