JD Vance Has Increased GOP’s ‘Creepy Weirdness Exponentially’: Mary Trump

Mary Trump, the niece of former President Donald Trump and his frequent critic, said that JD Vance has increased the Republican Party’s “weirdness.”

In recent weeks, Democrats have been sharpening their attack lines against Trump and Vance by describing them as “weird.”

Mary Trump praised the Democrats’ strategy in a post on her Substack blog, writing: “By adding J.D. Vance to the Republican ticket, Donald has increased the level of creepy weirdness exponentially, and the Harris campaign and its allies are taking every opportunity to capitalize on it. And, like the most effective political attacks, it works in part because it’s true.”

The insult was first introduced by Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat from Minnesota, who said about MAGA Republicans: “These guys are just weird.”

The Harris campaign has since embraced the messaging, repeatedly describing Trump and Vance as “weird” in campaign ads and emails. This has gained traction online and seems to have angered some Republicans, who have sought to quip back and turn the insult around on Democrats.

Mary Trump said that the attack line was effective because her uncle hates being mocked.

“Donald…is a weak, fragile man who is yes, deeply weird and deeply disturbed. He needs to be mocked mercilessly. He told us recently, that the one thing he hates, probably more than anything else, is to be laughed at,” she said.

While the insult is lighthearted, Mary Trump also honed in on several Republican policies that she described as “weird.”

“It’s weird to complain that childless cat ladies are the real problem facing America; it’s weird to believe in “menstrual surveillance.” It’s weird to attack people who don’t have kids just because they don’t have kids,” she wrote. “It’s weird to have a fetish for weapons of mass death. It’s weird to get angry at Star Wars and Disney movies or hate drag queens. It’s weird to hang out with Matt Gaetz.

“We need to be ready to counter the danger with joy, the weirdness with mockery. And we need to keep laughing.”

A representative for Trump’s campaign, Steven Cheung, told Newsweek in an emailed statement: “Kamala Harris and Democrats are actually projecting their weird and creepy vibes.

“The fact remains that Kamala is weak, failed, and dangerously liberal, and no amount of gaslighting from her moronic, too-online campaign will erase her despicable record. We’re going to beat the brakes off them and there is nothing they can do about it.”
