Six workers suffered injuries after a massive explosion rocked the MS Agarwal Steel Plant in Pennepalli, Tirupati district, on Wednesday night. The explosion reported approximately 10:15 PM was suspected to be triggered by a reported boiler malfunction.
According to eyewitnesses, there was a massive fireball erupting from the plant followed by a series of smaller explosions. The force of the blast shattered windows and caused structural damage to nearby buildings.
The injured workers were immediately taken to nearby government hospitals in Nellore and Nayudupeta.

The officials have temporarily closed the plant.
A probe is also underway to find the exact cause of the blast.
Meanwhile, the residents of surrounding villages expressed fear over the safety and functioning of the plant in the future.
