Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took a veiled dig at AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal ahead of Delhi Elections saying that while the NDA government focuses on housing for all, some leaders are making “jacuzzi” for themselves.
In an apparent jibe at the former Delhi CM, PM Modi said, “Nowadays, there are discussions on social media that the focus of some leaders are on getting jacuzzi and stylish showers in their house. But our focus is on getting water to every house.” PM Modi made the remarks while replying to the Motion of Thanks on President’s Address in Lok Sabha.
The prime minister also attacked Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, saying “Those who have photo sessions in the huts of the poor, for their own entertainment, will find the mention of the poor in Parliament boring.”
The PM also attacked the previous Congress government at the centre saying that a prime minister admitted that if one rupee was sent to Delhi, then the people would only get 15 paise.
“There was a PM in our country who identified one problem and said that if One Rupee was sent from Delhi, only 15 paise reached the bottom… who was getting the 15 paise this everyone can understand… At that time there was only party from the panchayat level to the central level,” PM Modi said in Lok Sabha.
“Earlier, the headlines of the newspapers used to be related to scams and corruption… 10 years have passed crores of rupees have been saved which has been used for the public… We have taken several steps which have saved a lot of money, but we have not used that money to build a ‘Sheeshmahal’, instead we have used that money to build the nation,” PM Modi added.
Prime Minister Modi also said that the BJP government believes in spending resources towards public welfare and the model dovetails savings and development. “We believe in spending resources towards public welfare; our model dovetails savings and development,” the PM said.
