Mufasa The Lion King Gets New Digital and Physical Release Date

Barry Jenkins’ Mufasa: The Lion King is heading for a home release this month as the film announces its digital and physical release dates, just over a month after it hit theaters.

The film which features the voices of Aaron Pierre and Kelvin Harrison Jr. is set to land on digital retailers such as Fandango at Home, Prime Video, and AppleTV+ on February 18, with a 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on the horizon in April.

Landing $653.2 million at the box office, Mufasa: The Lion King has been praised for being “adventurous” and “visually stunning” by critics, with audiences rating the film 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Mufasa: The Lion King tells the story of the beloved lion before he became the regal king we know now. Before this, he was a lost cub, who stumbles upon another cub, Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline.

Their friendship turns to brotherhood, and a winding journey takes them down an unexpected path which tests their relationship.

Pierre and Harrison Jr are joined by their fellow voice cast members, Tiffany Boone as Sarabi, Kagiso Lediga as Young Rafiki, Preston Nyman as Zazu, Mads Mikkelsen as Kiros, Donald Glover as Simba, and Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa, as well as featuring the voices of Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Anika Noni Rose, Keith David, John Kani, Blue Ivy Carter, Braelyn Rankins, Theo Somolu, Folake Olowofoyeku, Joanna Jones, Thuso Mbedu, Sheila Atim, Abdul Salis, Dominique Jennings, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.

Mufasa: The Lion King will be available to watch on Video on Demand platforms such as Prime Video, AppleTV+, and Fandango at Home, from February 18.
