Aamir Khan‘s son Junaid Khan has made his big theatrical debut along with Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi Kapoor. Their movie Loveyapa – directed by Advait Chandan – made it to the big screens on May 7. The romantic comedy drama continues to be lauded for Junaid’s compelling performance. Aamir went all out to promote the film with top stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and others showing up at the special screening.
Loveyapa box office report day 1
As per Sacnilk.com, Loveyapa starring Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor has made around Rs 1.25 crore at the box office on its opening day. It witnessed an occupancy of around 9.56% in Hindi. Loveyapa is expected to witness a jump in numbers over the first weekend, courtesy word of mouth. Not just the critics, even the audiences have loved the film.
Loveyapa is all about Gen-Z love. The movie revolves around Gaurav (played by Junaid) and Baani (played by Khushi). They are in love with each other and want to settle in matrimony. But Baani’s father comes up with a plan. He asks them to swap their phones for 24 hours before they decide to get hitched. Their whirlwind love story brings a fresh perspective to love in the era of Gen-Z. BollywoodLife gave 3 stars out of 5 to Loveyapa.
An excerpt from the review reads, “Advait Chandan’s take on modern relationships, particularly between young couples and their phones, is both entertaining and insightful. Initially, he brings light elements to the story where the couple is furious at each other for flirting around and lying to each other. However, in the second hour, the story gets intense when we learn how easy it is to pretend to be something else online and deceive others.”
While Loveyapa is Junaid and Khushi’s first big film release in theatres, they have showcased their acting skills through previously released projects on OTT. Junaid Khan’s acting debut was in a film called Maharaj that released on Netflix. It was a historical drama. Khushi Kapoor was seen in The Archies along with Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja and others.
