MLB spring training continues Monday as the Yankees take on the Red Sox in the heated rivalry. On Sunday, The Yankees dropped a 4-0 game to the Detroit Tigers, while Boston lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 8-7.

Garrett Crochet struck out four in 1.2 innings in his spring debut for the Red Sox and Alex Bregman was 3-for-3 with a two-run home run. Sean Boyle pitched three scoreless innings to open the game for New York, which managed only five hits on the afternoon.

The Boston Red Sox (1-1) are coming off an eventful offseason. They signed two-time All-Star third baseman Bregman, with plans to move him to second base. They also acquired All-Star left-hander Crochet from the Chicago White Sox in a trade. Boston sent four prospects to Chicago, most notably catcher Kyle Teel. Crochet had a 3.58 ERA and 1.068 WHIP in 32 starts and 146 innings, striking out 209.

New York also had a busy winter, picking up closer Devin Williams in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers and adding outfielder Cody Bellinger and right-hander Michael Arias in a deal with the Chicago Cubs. On the free agent market, left-hander Max Fried signed an eight-year contract with the Yankees, who also added right-hander Carlos Carrasco and first baseman Paul Goldschmidt.
