Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting in the national capital on Friday to review law and order and coordination. The meeting was attended by newly-elected Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Home Minister Ashish Sood, Delhi Police Commissioner, and other senior officials.
During the meeting, Amit Shah directed strict action against the entire network facilitating the entry of Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants into the country, aiding them in obtaining documents and enabling their stay. He emphasised that the issue of illegal infiltration is linked to national security and called for stringent measures to identify and deport unauthorised immigrants.
“The issue of illegal intruders is also related to national security and it should be dealt with strictly, and they should be identified and deported,” Shah said.
Additionally, directions were issued for an intensive investigation and crackdown on illegal immigrants, with enforcement agencies tasked with executing a comprehensive verification and deportation drive.
He further instructed authorities to take tough action against underperforming police stations and sub-divisions. Highlighting the menace of organised crime, the Union Home Minister stated, “Eliminating interstate gangs in Delhi with a ruthless approach should be a priority for Delhi Police.”
In a meeting with Delhi CM Rekha Gupta today, the Union Home Minister also instructed that the Delhi Government should prepare a ‘Monsoon Action Plan’ to deal with water-logging by identifying the places where water-logging occurs.
For quick disposal of 2020 Delhi riots cases, the Delhi government should appoint special prosecutors so that these cases can be disposed of soon, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated, as per news agency ANI.
Another decision taken in the meeting was regarding construction-related matters in the capital, where it was decided that Delhi Police permission would no longer be required for such cases.
Union Home Minister has also asked the DCP-level officers to go to police stations and organise public hearing camps and solve the problems of the public. “Delhi Police should identify the places where there is daily traffic jam and Delhi Police Commissioner and Chief Secretary should meet and find a quick solution to this, so that the public can get relief, added the Union Home Minister during meeting with Delhi govt,” the MHA stated Shah as instructing.
