Alka Yagnik is one of the most loved singers in Bollywood who still enjoys a massive fan base. During the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, the singer made everyone fall in love with her melodious voice. She has lent her voice to every top actress of these eras, but did you know that Osama Bin Laden was also a big fan of the singer? Yes, Alka was shared this information recently and was caught off guard on being told about it.
On May 2, 2011, a US military conducted a raid on an al-Qa’ida compound in Abbottabad and killed him. They had also seized several playlists at his place, which included songs by Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, and Kumar Sanu. Some of the songs that Osama Bin Laden had of the singer included Dil Tera Aashiq, Ajnabi Mujhko Itna Bata, Tu Chand Hai, and several others.
In an interaction with Anu Ranjan, the singer was startled to learn the same and reacted, “Is it my fault? Osama Bin Laden jo bhi hai jaisa bhi hai, uske andar ek chota sa kalakaar hoga kahin… pasand hai toh phir, accha hai na.”
During the same interaction, Alka Yagnik also opened up about the politics that has happened in the film industry. The singer recalled how some songs were not given to her. Alka revealed, “Politics exists in every line of work. A lot of songs were taken away from me. One of my contemporaries played very dirty politics with me. Like I’d rehearse a song only to know that a senior singer had eventually sung it. I’d say koi baat nahin. I didn’t bother who was doing what, saying what… I was a homebody and only too happy to return home after work. I sang from my heart. I was self-analytical, self-critical… Even if today a song of mine is playing on radio, and I find something wrong with it, I ask the driver to switch the station.”
