The incident comes after another fire erupted last week, where 15 tents were gutted in the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. The blaze broke out in the Chatnag Ghat Police Station area. This fire was also quickly brought under control.
It was later revealed during the investigation that these tents were unauthorised, UP Fire department official Pramod Sharma told news agency ANI.
Other incidents of fire at the Maha Kumbh include an explosion caused by the explosion of cooking gas cylinders.
In a tragic incident, at least 30 devotees were killed and 60 others sustained injuries in a stampede on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya on January 29. The Maha Kumbh mela will continue till February 26, with two other major snan remaining on February 12 (Maghi Purnima) and February 26 (Maha Shivratri).
