Aston Villa Seal First Ever UEFA Champions League Qualification


Premier League 2023/24: Aston Villa have ended their 41-year wait of UEFA Champions League qualification, as Unai Emery’s side the fourth and final spot for UCL qualification after Tottenham Hotspurs’ 2-0 defeat to Manchester City. The Birmingham-based club are on 68 points and will remain at 4th irrespective of the results on the final Matchday, as Spurs are behind by 5 points at 5th, and Liverpool are ahead by 11 points at 3rd.

With the result, the Top 4 for the Premier League 2023/24 season are confirmed, and the final Matchday will decide the 3rd relegated team, which is practically Luton Town unless something extremely dramatic and historic happens, and the title winner, in which, Manchester City are unprecedented frontrunners and runaway leaders.Ā

In a season full of memorable stories, unbeaten runs across Europe, the story of Aston Villa deserves its set of flowers, as Unai Emery has done an incredible job at the club, which was, few seasons ago, on the brink of relegation and barely survived thanks to magical moments of individual brilliance from Jack Grealish (who is now at Manchester City) and company.

Aston Villa’s last ever UCL appearance came in the 1982/83 season, where the defending champions conceded their crown by bowing out on the quarter final stage, at the hands of Bayern Munich.
