Aston Villa: A Journey Of Resurgence Of Old Giant
In a season full of memorable stories, unbeaten runs across Europe, the story of Aston Villa deserves its set of flowers, as Unai Emery has done an incredible job at the club, which was, few seasons ago, on the brink of relegation and barely survived thanks to magical moments of individual brilliance from Jack Grealish (who is now at Manchester City) and company.

Aston Villa’s last ever UCL appearance came in the 1982/83 season, where the defending champions conceded their crown by bowing out on the quarter final stage, at the hands of Bayern Munich. Inspite of being a European champion and competiting at the highest level, this will still be the first ever appearance of Aston Villa in UCL, as the format was rebranded from European Cup to UEFA Champions League in 1992. Late legendary footballer Johan Cruyff’s ‘Dream Team’ (1992 side of FC Barcelona) remain the last winners of the older format.
