A probe has been launched by the police in Maharashtra’s Palghar district after a woman’s severed head was found inside a suitcase.
The discovery was made near Pirkunda Dargah in the Virar area in the district on Thursday evening, news agency PTI reported.
A few local children spotted an abandoned suitcase in the area and decided to open it out of curiosity. However, they found a woman’s severed head inside it. Police were subsequently alerted, following which an investigation was launched, a police official told PTI.
An official from Mandvi police station said that forensic experts will visit the site to collect evidence. A probe is underway to unravel the murder and identify the woman.

Congress Worker’s Body Found Stuffed Inside Suitcase In Haryana
The incident comes days after the body of a 22-year-old woman was found stuffed inside a suitcase in Haryana’s Rohtak. The suitcase was found abandoned at a bus stop just 200 metres away from the Sampla bus stand and alerted the police.
Commuters had noticed the suitcase and alerted the police about it. When the police personnel arrived at the spot and opened it, they found the woman’s body stuffed inside it.
Later, the victim was identified as Himani Narwal from Sonepat. Narwal was a Congress worker and has even participated in the party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. A photo of Narwal alongside Rahul Gandhi during the yatra also went viral after her murder.
