Music maestro A. R. Rahman surprised fans with an unexpected performance at Ed Sheeran’s concert in Chennai, where the two artists collaborated on a mashup of Sheeran’s “Shape of You” and Rahman’s iconic track “Urvashi Urvashi.” The crowd erupted in excitement when Sheeran announced Rahman’s name. Rahman, a two-timeOscar winner, performed the Tamil version of “Urvashi Urvashi,” while Sheeran seamlessly blended in lines from his hit song “Shape of You.”

Sheeran, currently on the India leg of his ‘Mathematics (+-=÷x) Tour,’ met Rahman and his son A R Ameen before the show. Ameen, also a singer, posted a series of photos with Sheeran and Rahman on Instagram, expressing his excitement with heart emojis in the captions.
One of the pictures shows Sheeran posing with Rahman and Ameen, while another features Sheeran capturing a candid moment of Rahman working on his music in the studio. Sheeran also shared a video on Instagram where he is seen singing his romantic ballad “Perfect” alongside students from Rahman’s KM College of Music & Technology. He captioned the video, “Singing perfect with the amazing choir at @kmmcchennai here in Chennai today, wowsers.”
Earlier, a fan club posted a video of Sheeran receiving a head massage in Chennai, which Sheeran jokingly commented on saying, “This is abuse.” He also shared the video on his Instagram Stories with the caption, “This kinda slaps.”
At the Chennai performance, Sheeran was joined by singer Jonita Gandhi on stage. He will wrap up his tour, organized by AEG Presents Asia and BookMyShow Live, with a final performance in Delhi-NCR on February 15.
