Dhanush is one of the most prominent actors of the South Film industry. In the recent times, he has enthralled fans with films like Raayan, Sir, Captain Miller, Maaran, Maari, Asuran and many more. The actor now has a few movies in the pipeline. One of them is Ilaiyaraaja’s biopic. Indian musician Ilaiyaraaja has been serving the film industry with soulful music for decades. A biopic on him was announced in March 2024. Dhanush came onboard to play the lead in this film directed by Arun Matheswaran. But has this film been shelved? Post March 2024, fans did not get any major update about the biopic. Thus, rumours went rife suggesting that the film has been put on a backburner. However, that is not true. A report in Hindustan Times confirms that rumours suggesting that the film has been shelved are incorrect. Reportedly, the original producers AGS Entertainment have also joined hands with another producer to back this film. As per reports, the biopic on Ilaiyaraaja is currently in its pre-production stage. Post the announcement of the biopic, Dhanush had shared the poster of the film and mentioned that he is honoured to play Ilaiyaraaja in his biopic. At the event announcing the film, Dhanush spoke about playing the music maestro and said, “I grew up listening to the songs of the legendary Ilayaraja. I always had a dream of acting in the biopic of Ilaiyaraaja and actor Rajinikanth. One will fructify, but don’t know when the other will.” He said that it is a dream come true moment for him as he always dreamt of playing two characters – Ilayaraaja and Rajinikanth – on the big screen. A part of his wish is coming true, the actor exclaimed. Kamal Haasan was also a part of this event.
