How Golden Retriever Weaseled Her Way Into Four Helpings of Breakfast

Without a care in the world when she got caught, a dog proudly wore a guilty face when her owners realized she sneakily got multiple breakfasts one morning.

Harper the golden retriever weaseled her way into not eating once, not twice, but four times for breakfast one morning. In a March 3 TikTok video posted to the account @tapestryofmotherhood, Harper’s parents finally confront her when they found out. But instead of cowering with regret, she presented them with the proudest face.

To be fair, it wasn’t as if Harper did anything wrong. It was a classic case of miscommunication that all pet parents have gone through. Robin Korejko fed both Harper and their 9-year-old border collie mix, Hailey, and forgot to tell her husband they were fed. However, Harper snuck her way to Hailey’s food bowl and ate it before she could get it. Then Harper did the same thing again when the husband fed the two canines.

The caption reads: “When your golden retriever is actually a hungry hippo.”

The family laughs while recalling how it all unfolded. Meanwhile, Harper confidently walked around the house. She even got close to Dad, sniffing his hand as if she had earned a treat for her job well done.

Hailey, on the other hand, looks confused, but thankfully cuddles on the couch with Mom made up for it.

“Harper loves two things: attention and food!” Korejko told Newsweek via email. “So we all laughed at her because it’s very Harper of her to eat as much food as possible.”

Korejko’s youngest child mentioned that Harper was probably still hungry, which she confirmed was likely true.

‘Zero Regrets’

The hilarious TikTok clip had over 62,000 views, 5,052 likes and 68 comments as of Friday. People couldn’t get over how Harper could care less.

“Face of zero regrets,” commented one viewer.

Another person said: “Her smile is so cute and funny,” to which Harper’s owner responded: “She’s so proud of herself!”

A third person wrote: “The best day of her life.”

This family is not the only one that has unknowingly overfed their dog and likely won’t be the last.

A viewer shared: “My dog will do this with dinner. She will act hungry at 4, I feed her, and then act hungry at 6 and my mom will feed her! And then we call her out and all she gives is a side eye!”
