Illinois and Kentucky will face off on Sunday afternoon in the second round of the 2025 NCCA tournament, in a game that will air live from the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

This is a No. 3 vs. No. 6 matchup in the Midwest Region, with Kentucky the three-seed and Illinois the six-seed. The Wildcats have had a great season so far in head coach Mark Pope’s first campaign heading the program.
Kentucky is 23-11 on the season and is coming off a one-sided victory over No. 14 seed Troy. Oklahoma transfer Otega Oweh led the way for Kentucky with 20 points in the win while center Amari Williams had a unique stat line of five points, 13 rebounds, and four assists as the Wildcats took down Troy to open up tournament play.

Meanwhile, Illinois is 22-12 to this point in the season. The Illini opened their 2025 NCAA tournament run by defeating No. 11 seed Xavier 86-73. Leading the way for Illinois was lefty center Tomislav Ivišić, who had 20 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Future potential lottery pick Kasparas Jakučionis also had a huge game in his NCAA tournament debut, going off for a near triple-double at 16 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists.
With such a fun matchup of two talented teams with proud histories, Illinois vs. Kentucky is not a game that college basketball fans should miss.
