Kejriwal Likens Modi To Putin Over 400 LS Seat Target, Alleges BJP Bid For Constitutional Changes Similar To Russia

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, fresh out of Tihar jail on interim bail, launched scathing allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming their aim is to secure 400 seats in order to alter the Constitution and abolish reservation policies. Addressing supporters during his second roadshow in East Delhi’s Krishna Nagar, Kejriwal expressed concerns over what he perceives as a veiled attempt to instate dictatorship in the country.

“I missed you a lot. I missed Delhi people a lot. I was worried about you whether children of Delhi are studying, whether people are getting electricity and whether women are getting bus travel for free. Don’t worry my mothers and sisters, will start Rs 1,000 honorarium for you,” Kejriwal assured the crowd, highlighting his administration’s commitment to welfare measures.

Drawing parallels with Russia’s political landscape, Kejriwal warned against a potential concentration of power akin to that seen under Vladimir Putin’s regime. “In Russia, there is only Putin, Putin. They want the same situation here. They want 400 seats because they want to change the Constitution, ensure that no elections are held and Modi ji should continue to be the prime minister,” he remarked, accusing the BJP of harboring authoritarian ambitions.

Kejriwal didn’t mince words in his critique of the BJP’s agenda, accusing them of neglecting to highlight their achievements while prioritising divisive issues. “They want to end reservation, bring dictatorship in the country. They are not listing out their achievements in the last 10 years but talking about mangalsutra,” he stated.

I.N.D.I.A Govt Will Give Full Statehood To Delhi: CM Kejriwal

The Delhi Chief Minister also expressed confidence in I.N.D.I.A’s prospects saying that the opposition bloc would form the next Union government on June 4. “We will give statehood to Delhi and we will make our own LG. God has given me 21 days. I will work 24 hours, travel across the country to end this dictatorship,” he remarked.

Reflecting on his recent arrest, Kejriwal portrayed himself as a victim of political vendetta, attributing his detention to his efforts in improving public services. “They arrested me. Why did they arrest me? I am a small man. My fault is that I built good schools, good hospitals, mohalla clinics. I arranged for free medicines for people but my insulin was stopped in Tihar for 15 days. I begged for it, I am diabetic,” he lamented, crediting his release to a “miracle of God.”

Earlier in the day, Kejriwal conducted a roadshow in Mehrauli as part of his campaign efforts in the South Delhi constituency. ALSO READ | Delhi CM Kejriwal Leads First AAP Roadshow Post Bail, Says ‘I.N.D.I.A. Govt Will Be Formed On June 4
