During this pursuit, a battle occurred between the gods and demons. As Jayant fled with the pot of nectar, a few drops of nectar fell at four places, which are now the sites where the Mahakumbh is held today: Prayagraj, Ujjain, Nashik, and Haridwar. Since then, the Kumbh Mela has been organised at these locations.
