Malayalam superstar Mammootty has dismissed rumors circulating on social media that claimed he was diagnosed with cancer and was in critical condition at a hospital in Chennai. The false reports quickly went viral, causing widespread concern among fans and followers.
Mammootty issues clarification on cancer rumors
When ABP News reached out to Mammootty’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), who has handled his work for the last three films, the rumors were quickly dismissed. He explained that Mammootty had been filming recently and is now on a break. He is spending time with his family in Chennai, enjoying a well-deserved holiday.
The PRO also shared that Mammootty is observing fasting during Ramadan. He reassured fans that the actor’s health is perfectly fine and confirmed that once his break is over, Mammootty will return to shoot for his upcoming film with actor Mohanlal. The clarification comes as a relief to fans who had been concerned due to the misleading rumors circulating online.

On the work front, the highly anticipated film featuring superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal began shooting in Sri Lanka in November. The Malayalam movie, tentatively titled MMMN, is directed by Mahesh Narayanan. The project is said to also star Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, and Fahadh Faasil, though the makers have yet to officially announce the film.
This project marks the reunion of Mammootty and Mohanlal after 16 years. The two actors previously worked together in Mammootty’s ‘Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukutty’, where Mohanlal played a small role. Before that, Mammootty had a cameo in Mohanlal’s ‘Christian Brothers’.
