When Dia Mirza spoke about her parents’ divorce
The actress is Dia Mirza. Before taking up modelling, she was a marketing executive. Her father Frank Handrich was German and mother is a Bengali. However, when the actress was four-and-half years old, her parents parted ways. Her mother then married Ahmed Mirza and Dia adopted her stepfather’s surname.
In one of the interviews with Miss Malini, Dia Mirza spoke at length about her parents’ divorce. She said that she was very attached to her father and that he was her hero. She recalled that in childhood, she perceived her parents as ideal. She also revealed that she barely saw her parents fight. Thus she was startled to know that her parents had the desire to separate. Dia Mirza also shared that court allowed her father to meet her over the weekend and mother over the weekdays. She added, “What really created a big shift was when both of them decided to remarry and they both married very quickly.”
Dia Mirza also spoke about her stepfather and quoted, “I think the first thing that my stepfather made very clear to me was that he would never take the place of my father. And that he was not my father. He was my friend. And he would only be my father the day, I chose for him to be my father.”

Dia Mirza marked her Bollywood debut in 2001 with Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein. She has worked with some of the top stars of Bollywood. She shared screen space with Salman Khan in Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge.
In an interview with Connect Cine, Dia Mirza once also shared a hilarious incident when Salman Khan told her that she will play his mother on screen one day. She said, “I was like ‘I hope that day never comes!’ Of all my memories working with Salman, this was a distinct one because this was so hilarious! I was so baffled by that, but I remember him being extremely protective and caring… at that, there was no gender-balance on sets.”
