MI Women Celebrate Title Triumph As DC Women Lose 3rd Consecutive Final

WPL 2025 Final: Mumbai Indians Women beat Delhi Capitals Women by 8 runs to win Women’s Premier League 2025, and in the process, they now become the first-ever side in the history of the league to win the title on multiple occasions.

The inaugural WPL winners missed out on the title last season, with a defeat to RCB Women in the Eliminator, but made amends for it this time, as they repeat the result in what is a recap of the 2023 Final.

For Delhi Capitals Women, it is a shattering defeat, as they have now lost their 3rd consecutive WPL Final. On all three occasions, DC Women finished on top of the points table to directly qualify for the Final, and now, on all the three occasions, they finish as runners-up.

MI Women managed merely 149 runs at the Brabourne Stadium in the Final, thanks to Harmanpreet Kaur’s 66 runs, and Nat Sciver-Brunt’s 30-run knock.

In reply, DC Women batting faltered and were reduced to 83-6. Late heroics from Marizanne Kamp and Niki Prasad failed to inspire their side to a win, as MI Women prevailed.

Nat Sciver Awarded Player Of The Tournament

England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 523 runs throughout the tournament, winning the Orange Cap, and her antics resulted in her winning the Player of the Tournament award.

“So pleased. Yeah, I guess it’s been a great year for me in WPL. Yeah, to come with a lot of cricket. So happy to be here. I don’t really know. I try to ride the highs as possible. That’s cricket. On any given day, things turn. Just trying to ride the highs as much as possible,” said Nat Sciver-Brunt.

“I guess we have a great amount of all-rounders in our team. World-class players and lucky to be a part of the team. Yeah, it’s so special. To be a part of the franchise that’s become a family. We are very very happy,” she added.
