Imlie: Sai Ketan Rao and Adrija Roy have already wrapped up shooting for Gul Khan‘s show. Imlie successfully ran on television for more than three and a half years. The show will go off air by this month. Sai Ketan Rao and Adrija Roy were part of the show for ten months, as they entered the show last year as Agastya and Imlie. Gone are the days when a TV show running for years was quite a normal thing. In today’s world, shows are finding it difficult to survive even for a year. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Life, Sai Ketan revealed why TV shows are not surviving long like the old times. Sai Ketan Rao perfectly decodes why TV shows today are wrapping up within months of launch

Sai Ketan Rao has been part of three shows in Hindi television till now: Mehendi Hai Rachne Waali, Chashni, and Imlie. While Mehendi Hai Rachne Waali was a hit, Chashni wrapped up within a few months of its launch. When asked why TV shows are facing it difficult to survive, the actor said, ”The problem is the track; the story of almost every other show is similar. Why would the audience want to see a TV show when they know that they have already seen a similar story in some other show? There is a lot of saturation in the story. There are so many stories which are similar to other stories. The audience already knows what’s going to happen in the upcoming episodes. If the audience already knows, or if they can predict what will happen in the upcoming episodes, why will they watch a show? The problem is the same with films as well. In the same interview, Sai also mentioned that he feels Imlie did deserve an extension or at least a time slot change. Sai Ketan Rao said, ‘It deserves at least a time slot change or an extension because it has a lot of story to tell. That’s what I feel. All said and done, I am immensely grateful that I got the opportunity to play two brilliant characters, Surya and Agastya. I mean, who gets to play such diverse roles, that too in one show.
