Stormy Daniels’ Surprising Reaction to Trump’s Guilty Verdict

[ad_1]

Stormy Daniels celebrated Donald Trump‘s conviction by liking a post from the former president’s nemesis, Kathy Griffin.

The jury delivered their verdict in Trump’s New York criminal trial on Thursday. The business mogul was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records, allegedly to hide hush money payments to Daniels ahead of the 2016 general election.

The adult film star—whose real name is Stephanie Clifford—claims to have had a brief fling with the Republican politician in 2006. Trump denies the affair, pleaded not guilty to the charges, and will be appealing the verdict. The 77-year-old has long claimed that the trial is politically motivated, calling the verdict a “disgrace.”

After news of the conviction broke, Griffin took to X, formerly Twitter, to commend Daniels.

“Thank you Stormy Daniels,” the comedian wrote, tagging the 45-year-old.

Daniels took note and liked the post, which has received over 361,000 views so far. Newsweek has reached out to Stormy Daniels and a representative for Donald Trump for comment via email.

Trump reportedly asked his former lawyer Michael Cohen to pay Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about an alleged affair between himself and Daniels. Trump supposedly repaid Cohen through 12 monthly installments labeled as “legal fees.”

In 2018, Cohen was jailed for three years after pleading guilty to eight counts, including lying to Congress and organizing other hush money payments, which he claimed were to protect Trump.

Daniels testified in the hush money trial, recalling how she met Trump at a celebrity golf tournament and the one-night stand she says they had.

The For the Love of DILFs host said the pair had dinner in Trump’s hotel room and went into explicit detail about the encounter, which she claims the real estate magnate initiated.

Trump’s defense team attempted to discredit Daniels, suggesting that she was financially motivated.

“You were looking to extort money from President Trump,” defense lawyer Susan Necheles said, to which Daniels responded, “False.”

Daniels’ testimony drew significant attention, with members of the public lining up outside the courthouse to watch. Trump was visibly agitated during her testimony, prompting the judge to caution his legal team about his behavior.

Although Trump has a number of celebrity fans, the former president also has his fair share of rivals in Hollywood. Griffin is one of Trump’s most outspoken critics, with her attempt to make a bold statement against the Republican in 2017 resulting in death threats.

Griffin’s comedy tour was canceled after she posted a photo of herself holding an effigy of Trump’s severed head. The 63-year-old comedian apologized, but she also lost her co-hosting gig on CNN‘s New Year’s Eve special and was put under federal investigation.

During an appearance on the Dinner’s on Me with Jesse Tyler Ferguson podcast in January, Griffin said she did not anticipate the level of backlash the image would generate.

“I thought it would be on Instagram for two days, or maybe a gay blog,” she said. “I actually just got a FOIA back, Freedom of Information Act, recently, expressing how serious they were about trying to charge me with the crime of conspiracy to assassinate the president of the United States.”

However, Griffin has continued to hit out at The Apprentice star on X, despite facing protests from MAGA supporters at a show in Long Island in March.
