Tirupati Temple Board Tells 18 Non-Hindu Employees

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has initiated strict action against employees adhering to non-Hindu religious practices while working within the institution. Following the directives of TTD Chairman BR Naidu, authorities have identified 18 employees who, despite being part of the temple administration, are practicing non-Hindu religious traditions.

In response, the TTD Board has decided to either transfer these employees to government departments or provide them the option of Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS). The move aims to ensure that only those who adhere to Hindu religious customs participate in temple festivals and rituals.

TTD said, as per ANI, “Authorities have identified 18 employees who, despite being employed by TTD, are following non-Hindu religious traditions. Orders have been issued for disciplinary action against 18 identified employees who are participating in non-Hindu religious activities while also taking part in TTD festivals and rituals.”

“The TTD Board has recently resolved to either transfer such employees to government departments or facilitate their exit through the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS). This decision aligns with TTD’s commitment to preserving the spiritual sanctity of its temples and religious activities,” it said.

TTD’s Stand On Religious Practices

TTD, which oversees the administration of Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala, has long emphasised that employees must uphold Hindu traditions while working within the institution. Reports suggest that employees engaging in non-Hindu religious activities have been attending TTD rituals and festivals, prompting concerns about the sanctity of the temple administration.

As soon as BR Naidu was appointed as the Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board, he asserted his commitment to ensure that all employees working at Tirumala, the sacred abode of Lord Venkateswara, are Hindus.
