UK submits Hindi-language crime drama ‘Santosh’ for Academy Awards; know all about the film

The crime drama Santosh is directed by Sandhya Suri. The film is also penned by her. She is a Britsh-Indian filmmaker and a documentarian. The story of Santosh revolves around a 28-year-old woman played by Indian actress Shahana Goswami. It is about Santosh Saini who takes up a job in the police department after her husband passes away. She then has to investigate a murder case of a girl. The film received wide acclaim and it has a 7.8 rating on IMDb. The movie is reportedly shot in Lucknow. Talking about India’s entry into Oscars 2025, Laapataa Ladies was chosen from 29 feature films that were submitted for the nominations. The list included films like Kalki 2898 AD, Chandu Champion, Joram, Srikanth, Maidan, Sam Bahadur, Maharaja, HanuMan, Animal, Kill, Thangala and more. Kiran Rao, Pratibha Ranta, Ravi Kishan and others were elated with the news. The film is produced under Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao’s production banner. The story of Laapataa Ladies revolves around two wives who mistakenly get swapped in a train while traveling with their husbands. It is then a journey toward freedom, love, and more.
