Woman Tries To Record Video, But Teenage Golden Retriever Has Other Plans

The internet has been left in hysterics after a woman tried to capture a simple TikTok video, only for her teenage golden retriever to become the star of the show.

Dog owner, Sheridan Ray, from Washington, was filming a video showing off the new fur vest that she bought, only to be interrupted by Kevin the golden retriever. As soon as she tried to put the vest on, the teenage dog instantly turned it into a game and started trying to bite the garment.

Despite turning around and trying to evade Kevin’s grasp, the golden latched onto the fur vest and it quickly turned into a game of tug of war. Thankfully she was able to get it off him eventually, although it may now have several teeth marks.

It may not have been the recording she was hoping to capture, but Ray couldn’t resist sharing what it’s like “trying to do anything with a teenage golden” on TikTok anyway (@sheridanrayy). Since it was posted on March 2, it has gone viral with over 208,600 views and more than 15,600 likes at the time of writing.

Newsweek has contacted Ray via TikTok for comment.

Alongside the hilarious video, the caption jokes: “A teenage golden retriever is not for the weak!”

Indeed, many owners might get through the puppy stage and make the mistake of thinking everything gets easier after that. How wrong they are, but then the teenage phase begins.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) says that most dogs enter their adolescent phase when they’re around 8 months old. Unfortunately, it doesn’t go away overnight and can last until the dog is around 2 years old.

There are many behavioral changes that a teenage dog will display, including stubbornness that they might not have exhibited previously, and a desire to explore outside their comfort zone. Not to mention, they will become physically larger and stronger at this time too.

All is not lost however, as the AKC says that it’s never too late to start puppy training and to go over basic commands. This will also teach them self-control and obedience, which can hopefully overcome the teenage rebellion they go through.

In just a matter of days, the TikTok video has amassed over 50 comments as many lauded Kevin’s mischievous behavior.

One TikTok user wrote: “A teenage golden retriever is not for the weak!”

Another person added: “I mean you can’t call anything cute other than him.”

Another commenter joked: “Glad to see it’s not just me.”

While one social media user said: “Kevin just wants to see the jacket.”
