The Toronto Blue Jays have a very tough decision to make with superstar infielder Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and star shortstop Bo Bichette. Both players are entering the final years of their contracts, and the Blue Jays need to decide whether to trade them or hold onto them.

While holding onto them seems like the obvious move, Toronto would be running the risk of losing both stars for nothing in free agency. Trading them would return two huge hauls of prospects to the Blue Jays.

FanSided’s Jacob Mountz recently predicted the Blue Jays would opt to hold onto Guerrero and Bichette for the entire season as they look to push for the postseason.

“In an attempt to make a postseason push, Blue Jays’ GM Ross Atkins placed his bets on Anthony Santander and Max Scherzer, neither of whom should significantly move the needle given the Blue Jays’ many weaknesses,” Mountz wrote. “By the trade deadline, it will more than likely be clear that Toronto is not a postseason-bound team.

“At that point, there will be two options: sell off or make improvements in hopes of turning the tide. Of these two options, we can expect Atkins to choose the latter. But who has the potential to change the Jays’ dismal fortunes? Look no further than Luis Robert Jr.”

This is a very tough decision for the Blue Jays’ front office to make.

Mountz’s prediction comes alongside another prediction that the Blue Jays would trade for Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. Pairing these two decisions together would make a lot of sense.

Holding onto Guerrero gives Toronto the best chance to re-sign him in the offseason. The superstar infielder will likely be the Blue Jays’ No. 1 priority for the next year or so.
