Delhi Chief Secretary on Tuesday submitted an enquiry report to Delhi Minister Atishi in Old Rajinder Nagar Incident, which led to the deaths of three IAS aspirants last week.

The report said that the coaching institute completely blocked the drainage system and also has not taken additional safeguards against such incidents.

“This coaching institute has completely blocked the drainage system and also has not taken additional safeguards to meet out such type of eventualities. The parking access to the institute is directly exposed to the road and in case of heavy rain, water instead of going into the stormwater drain enters directly into this parking area,” the report said.

“There was no vigil on the part of security staff as a result water uninterruptedly crosses the parking area and entered into the basement and ultimately taking the precious life of three bright children,” it added.

However, the Assistant Engineer(M-1)/KBZ responsible for maintenance of the drains system of area has been suspended with immediate effect and services of Junior Engineer (M-1)/KBZ has been terminated forthwith, the Delhi Chief Secretary said.

Earlier on Monday, Atishi had lashed out at Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar over delay in filing inquiry report for the recent basement coaching centre deaths.

The AAP leader had given the top bureaucrat a 10 pm deadline to submit a report on the matter. The Home Ministry has also formed a high-level committee on Monday to investigate the flooding incident. The MHA has given a time of 30 days to the committee to submit the report in the incident.
