F1 News: Carlos Sainz 2025 Move Rumors Intensify As Team Spotted Leaving Rival Garage

There has been a huge amount of speculation regarding Carlos Sainz’s 2025 move ever since seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton announced he would be replacing the Spanish driver at Ferrari next year. Sainz’s entourage was recently spotted exiting the Williams motorhome during the Belgian Grand Prix weekend which has further fueled rumors of where he might move to next.

The Spanish driver is exploring options for the next championship season, with multiple teams lining up to secure his services. Among the interested parties are Williams, Alpine, and the soon-to-be rebranded Sauber team, Audi. Alpine’s special advisor, Flavio Briatore, openly expressed the team’s intent on Italian RAI Radio, stating, as quoted by Planet F1:

“Incredibly he [Sainz] is still free, we are all willing to have him on the team and we will do what we can.”

Sainz himself has been transparent about his aspirations, noting his priority to drive a vehicle capable of clinching the championship.

Whilst speaking to the media at Spa, he explained:

“My best option for next year would be a championship-winning car, which has been my number one priority since these talks about my future have happened.

“And the likelihood of that, we all know that is small, but that’s always been my target. And if that doesn’t happen, I’ll choose what’s best for my near future, for sure.”

When asked when the F1 community to expect an announcement, Sainz responded:

“Do you honestly think I’m going to answer that question?

“After all this time, I’m now going to tell you if I’m going to decide tomorrow or in five days or before the summer break?

“I cannot honestly give you the answer, and I cannot answer that question. It’s as simple as that. I don’t know. I don’t know if it’s going to be before or after the summer break. I don’t know.”

Although Sainz is remaining coy about his ongoing decisions, his management team was seen leaving the Williams hospitality unit during the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, sparking more rumors of the Spanish driver joining the British team to drive alongside Alex Albon.

Although it was confirmed earlier this week that Esteban Ocon has signed with Haas for 2025, many of the remaining drivers who are yet to sign a contract for next year have shown frustration that Sainz is holding up the driver market. The drivers currently without contracts for 2025 include Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu, Kevin Magnussen, Logan Sargeant, and Daniel Ricciardo.
