TV Host Gives Health Update on 2-Year-Old Son After Harrowing ICU Stay

Jason Kennedy’s 2-year-old son had a harrowing health scare — but is thankfully recovering.

On Wednesday, February 26, the E! host and his wife, Lauren Kennedy, shared a joint post on Instagram alerting the public that their son Ryver was very ill and had spent two days in the pediatric ICU. The couple asked for prayers.

“If you could say a prayer for our boy Ryver it would mean a lot. Day 2 in pediatric intensive care, the infection is leaving doctors perplexed and we are hopeful for more answers today,” the husband and wife duo penned. “Gutting to see him in this kind of pain. This song has been our anthem 🙏🏻.”

The pair’s celebrity friends flooded the comment section with prayers and love for the little boy.

“Prayed for the baby boy 🙏🏼,” reality star Kourtney Kardashian commented.

Retired Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson wrote, “Praying so so hard!!!!!”

“Thinking of you and praying for Ryver now 🙏,” Today metrologist Dylan Dreyercommented.

One day later, on Thursday, February 27, Jason shared that Ryver would be okay as they were taking him home to recover. Jason posted a video of Lauren holding the toddler in her arms on his Instagram feed and Story.

The entertainment journalist recorded the video and told his son, “Say love you guys, thank you. Ryv, say thank you,” seemingly referring to the hospital staff. The little one adorably blew kisses with his hands to the staff.

“All clear to recover at home – thank you for praying and sending encouraging messages,” Jason captioned the post. “I’ve interviewed every rockstar but none as great as the PICU Doctors and Nurses from Ventura County Medical Center. Angels in my book ❤️.”

Jason and Lauren tied the knot in December 2014. In addition to Ryver, the couple share daughter, Poppy, 1, and often post fun life moments of their kids via social media. Earlier this month Lauren posted an Instagram Reel of Ryver and Poppy hanging around the house.

She captioned the video, “bursts of love with my little hearts 🐶💙🩷 and my ultimate love @thejasonkennedy ☺️.”
