Why Kelsea Ballerini Just Called Out Fans at Her Concert

Most celebrity breakups fade into the past, but some fans refuse to move on — Kelsea Ballerini just made it clear she’s not here for that.

On Sunday, February 23, the 31-year-old multi platinum-selling country singer was performing at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, when some concertgoers decided to take a jab at her ex-husband, Morgan Evans.

While singing “Penthouse,” she paused after the lyric “Knowing you got half” — a pause fans have been using to shout profanities about her former flame. This time, she stopped the music.

“Guys, we have to stop saying that. Seriously. We’re three years past it, everything’s fine now,” the “Peter Pan” singer told the crowd in a moment caught on TikTok. “I sing this song for you now, it’s not about me anymore, please.”

With the mic in hand, Ballerini walked toward the front of the stage. “Alright, for everyone that’s moving forward with their life, will you sing this with me?” she said before jumping back into the song.

Once the clip made its way online, it didn’t take long for the internet to react.

“For everyone who doesn’t know- people say ‘F You Morgan’ during the pause. She has asked multiple times for people to stop. She is healed and wants to move on,” one person wrote in the comments section of the TikTok.

“So classy of her to call someone out she’s over it. 👏🏼” another said.

“People forget that was her husband.. for multiple years. You can still respect someone even though you got a divorce and she’s doing exactly that,” chimed in a third.

“Listen to MOTHER. Or she’s gonna remove it from the setlist and y’all are gonna ruin it for every one else. She deserves for us to respect her wishes!” someone else pointed out.

“I love her for this 😂 people have no chill, call them out!” added another.

Ballerini and the 39-year-old “Kiss Somebody” singer finalized their divorce in November 2022 after nearly five years of marriage. She later revealed that their split stemmed from differing views on starting a family. “He was ready. He was like, ‘I don’t want to be an old dad,'” she shared on Call Her Daddy in 2023. “And I was like, ‘I’m not there yet, and I can’t do that to save this and give you something that I’m not ready for.'”

Since then, she’s moved on with Outer Banks star Chase Stokes. The two first sparked dating rumors in January 2023 after Stokes, 32, posted a photo of them together at a football game. They made their red carpet debut as a couple at the CMT Awards a few months later and have been together ever since.
